I know I promised an update of my November posting plans. I’m gonna try the variation in which I try to average a post a day instead of being stuck with having to update every single day. So yes, you’ve now heard it – my goal is 30 posts in November. I’m sure, having said that, I’m going to get a lot of encouragement from at least a few of my blog buddies helping make sure I stick with this goal. We’ll see how it goes.
In order to make this a little bit easier, I have picked a theme as I mentioned I was trying the other day. I’m not sure how long the theme is going to last, but I’m gonna try for a month of “About Me” posts. This kinda started cause my About Me page has been sitting empty since I started this blog (officially March 1, though I had it for a few months prior). Maybe I’ll be able to take some of this information and summarize it into a worthwhile About Me page. But in some ways you really have Josh to blame for this. He’s always asking for good stories about me, so that’s what I’m going to provide.
I’ve started listing various things I could talk about and so far I’m up to 13 (kind of an unlucky number this close to Halloween…guess I’m gonna have to add a few more). Will you get to hear about all of those topics? Maybe. They’re just to give me inspiration. I may go with them, I may not. I haven’t quite decided yet. And if I start running out of stories I’m willing to tell, I may get a new theme mid-way through. We’ll see how it goes. The intent is not just lots of posts, but posts with content. Does that mean there won’t be the occasional one liner or test result or some other substance-less fun post? No, but they will be limited.
So there ya have it folks. I’m committed. Let’s hope by the end of it, it’s still just a pledge and not a reflection of my sanity.

Phantom, by Terry Goodkind
Book 10 in the Sword of Truth series. Apparently the 2nd to last book in the series. Again, I’ll have another series that I’m sad to see end. Maybe he’ll do another little side story as he’s done before. I can hope.
It’s been quite some time since I read the other books. I started them at a time when I was able to read through just about all of them without having to wait. I think I only waited a month or two for the one before this, but this one was months of waiting. And of course it ended with a really good cliffhanger so I don’t know how I’m going to wait for the next one. I’m not really sure what to say about this particular book. Wizards, magic, an all out war for the sake of the world and freedom itself. Add in some romance and you’ve got me sucked in.
I had a hard time getting into this series. I must have started out the first book a couple times and didn’t really get past the first 20 pages. But at one point, my friends started reading it and said if you could get past the first 20 pages, it was a really good book. That next time, it wasn’t so difficult to get through. I’m not sure what my problem was, but that’s happened a few times. I’ve picked up a book, had trouble getting through it and then later picked it up and wondered why I ever put the thing down.
Anyway, long story short – if you like the science-fiction/fantasy genre and want to give the first book, Wizard’s First Rule, a try, definitely do it. And if you have trouble with the first couple chapters as I did and I’ve heard a couple other people have, just stick with it, cause it’s definitely worth it.
NaBloPoMo is almost upon us. Having said that, you may be thinking I’m actually going to participate. Now, I’ve toyed with the idea, but I’m not quite sure I want to bite that off right away. I’m having a hard enough time posting at all, much less posting each and every single day. (Yes, I know I can write a post and set it to publish on the correct day, but I’m too much of a procrastinator to have things done ahead of time like that would require.)
But I want to do something to just get myself moving again. On my other blog, I posted quite a bit, but there wasn’t much substance. When trying to focus on substance here, I tend to not blog at all. Well, I want to try for both. I’m thinking of doing NaBloPoMo with my own twist. Instead of posting once every day, I’m thinking of posting an average of once per day. So still 30 posts, but not quite stuck to the every day has to have a post. Just having 30 posts would be a great improvement for me. Focusing on regular updates can come later.
To avoid meaningless drivel, I’m trying to come up with a theme for the month. I’ve been working on some possible ideas to fit that theme to make sure it’s possible to generate a month’s worth of posts out of it, though depending upon how that goes, I may split the month into two themes. Dunno yet. But I am working on it, so hopefully in the next couple days I’ll be able to give you the details of my goal for November. After all, I don’t have a lot of time before November is already start. Gotta get moving…
