I can’t walk and talk at the same time

OK, it’s not quite what you’re thinking. I’m able to do this, but for some reason when I talk for extended periods of time while walking, I don’t breathe right or something, and I suddenly become short of breath. Then, even when I stop walking, if I continue to talk, I can’t catch my breath either. I’ve noticed this multiple times lately as I’ve walked back from meetings, mostly when walking back includes walking up the stairs. I think I just take breaths that are too quick and shallow, but even though I know this, I can’t seem to force myself to breathe better in those situations. So yes, for all intents and purposes, I shouldn’t walk and talk at the same time…at least not when it includes going up stairs.

There’s something wrong when…

A minute ago, I heard a car go by and it seemed to be going pretty fast. It’s pretty sad when my first thought was “Oooh, can I rewind that so I can watch and see how fast it was going?” Somehow I don’t think my TiVo remote will work that way. :)

What to say?

So I’ve started and saved multiple blogs, but for whatever reason, I either didn’t finish them or didn’t publish them or whatever. Not quite sure why. Still not sure if this one’s going to make it to print, so to say. So anyway, here’s a few highlights from the past month or so.

  • Mid-August was Indy. I was working. Mr. B was in the middle of a fight. His car took 2nd place in the unfinished class.
  • Labor Day weekend we took a trip to Chicago and went to Great America. They have these 6 pack tickets that are normal price but get you in up to 6 more days. So we’re going back for Fright Fest. Anyone interested? :) We had a slight hotel snafu since we hadn’t exactly planned the trip. Got to see several of my friends from college, which was cool. They had been at a Renaissance Festival, and once they told Mr. B some of the things that go on there, he’s half convinced to try it sometime, though earlier in the day he was speaking as if he wouldn’t be caught dead at one.
  • Mr. B went up to Joliet for the races and I took the opportunity to have my own little Heroes (new season starts on Monday!!!!!!) marathon. I did manage to at least get the bathroom cleaned that weekend.
  • The day after cleaning the bathroom, we had to fix a leak under the kitchen sink. Long story short, we had to turn off water to the entire house. When I went up to the bathroom later, a hose popped lose on the toilet due to an air bubble in the line and water sprayed everywhere. The sink and shower faucets originally turned out icky colored water with gunk it it from the nice rusty plumbing I have. So much for my clean bathroom. I was so ready to move that evening.
  • Mr. B finally cleaned the garage last weekend, so I can actually walk around in it again and get to the garbage to take it out.
  • I’m still not sleeping worth a crap. Have no clue why.
  • So, yeah, not much of anything blog-worthy. I’m sure you’re so upset that you’ve missed out on all this. :)

I still feel bad

Mr. B and I stopped by the grocery store on our way home from dinner last night to pick up a few things needed for tonight’s dinner. This was supposed to be a quick trip, but ended up as a longer trip as we added in a few more things here and there because they were on sale or we remembered we were low on something. After staring at barbecue sauces for a few minutes waiting for Mr. B to make a decision about one, I started making comments to hopefully get him to pick one so we could go home. He muttered something under his breath that I didn’t quite hear. I immediately said “What did you say?” When he didn’t answer I repeated it. He still wouldn’t answer.

At about this time, another girl (lady? I dunno, she seemed about my age, so it’s hard for me to say lady, but girl sounds too young) was walking down the aisle and had to pass between us and the barbecue sauces Mr B. was still looking at, so she said “Excuse me” and walked through. No big deal. I was still trying to get Mr. B to repeat what he said. Unfortunately, my next repeat of “What did you say?” came just as she passed us. Since it was the third time I had asked, I was kind of exasperated, so my tone wasn’t just normal. She turned back, looking somewhat stricken, and said “I just said, ‘Excuse me’…” Of course, by then I was falling all over myself between trying to say “Oh, sorry” and “No, I was talking to him” and that sorta thing. I felt really bad. And of course, Mr. B sat and laughed through the entire thing…

Never watched the show, so I’m not sure if this is good or bad…

You scored as Kirsten, You are a perfectionist. Be weary of being too rigid and limiting your openness to varied experiences. Neat freaks are just as irrational as slobs. A half messy person is, in fact, the ideal. Optimal evolution (according to the research) is dependent on a sufficient amount of random variation and being overly regimented inhibits variation.
